Family engagement was the most influential of the 5 Essential Supports that drove student and school improvements in a longitudinal study conducted by the UChicago Consortium on School Research. It involved 400+ schools over seven years.

Funds of Knowledge is a shorthand for the ample skills and resources each family member brings to bear in support of their children’s education. The term was coined by Dr. Luis Moll. You can read his study here.
